BAGUIO CITY, March 18 (PIA) - - The Department of Health - Cordillera �(DOH-CAR) enjoins all local media practitioners to join the �Linggop Cordillera Health Media Awards.
According to DOH-CAR Local Health Support Division Chief, Dr. Amelita Pangilinan, linggop is an Ifugao word which means state of well being. The said media awards, which was launched November last year, aims to enjoin and encourage media practitioners to make health as part of their daily coverage and to further increase the society's awareness on the importance of day-to-day health.
There are three categories of said contest: excellence in local reporting for print, excellence in local reporting in broadcast (TV and radio), and Best Photo. There are also four periods of coverage for the award: �November 25, 2011 to March 31, 2012; April to June 30, July 1 to September 30; and October 1 to December 31, 2012.

Pangilinan announced that the competition is open to all journalists working for Cordillera newspapers, magazines, television/radio stations, wire services, and networks with the exception of specialty/trade publications.

She said �entries must be based on the theme of the �Aquino Health Agenda of Kalusugan Pangkalahatan' and other DOH health events, except for the entries covering November 25, 2011 to March 31, 2012 which must be based on the theme, Community Health Team.�

Entries will be judge according to news value (40%), quality and depths of research (35%), immediacy and relevance (15%), and creativity (10%).

Pangilinan said �participation is free of charge and each participant can submit a maximum of three entries per category. By entering the contest, �the contestant �also grants DOH-CAR the rights to reproduce all submitted entries in any print or electronic publications with proper citation to the author.

�Cash prizes �await �the winners �per category in each covered period. Winners for the said award will also be announced during DOH-CAR's Annual Health Decision-maker's Forum. (JDP/LD-PIA CAR)
