DOSTv all set for its grand launching

After almost nine months of delivering the most comprehensive, real-time weather and science updates to its viewers, DOSTv is now up and ready to offer a better and broader science programming for the Filipino people.

The Department of Science and Technology's (DOST) official channel, DOSTv, is set to have its grand launching on February 27, 2017, during the celebration of the 30th anniversary of its main producer, the Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII).

Soft-launched as "The Filipino Weather Channel" last May 30, 2016, DOSTv initially aired its live broadcast via its website,, and eventually had its simulcast on Facebook and Youtube.

Airing live from 11:00am to 12:00 noon, Mondays to Fridays, DOSTv has completed a total of 183 episodes at the time of writing.

Programming contents include weather, flood, and water level updates from DOST-PAGASA; one-on-one live talk interview with science and technology experts, DOST officials, and employees; documentaries; DOST flash report; public service announcements; trivias; "What's the Weather With You"; and "Finding Joona" special feature.
DOSTv intensified its content build-up to sustain a daily show, and enhanced its training program for studio personnel to perform documentation, production, editing, and broadcast functions.

On its grand launching, DOST-STII will present DOSTv's new brand, as it shifts from its "Filipino Weather Channel" theme. DOSTv will also sport its new aesthetics and introduce new and additional segments.

Plans are also underway for DOSTv to be aired on free TV for easier access.

DOSTv is only one among the projects of DOST-STII to be launched during its "Arangkada sa Tatlong Dekada" 30th anniversary celebration. STII, established in 1987 through EO 128, is the information and marketing arm of DOST.
