The DOST-NRCP congratulates its Governing Board Member, DR. RAUL V. DESTURA of UP-Manila National Institute of Health and Associate Member, Dr. NESTOR MICHAEL C. TIGLAO, Associate Professor, College of Engineering, UP-Diliman, the inventors of Biotek-M Aqua Dengue Kit which won a Gold Medal and Smart Surface, which garnered a Gold Medal with jury distinction, respectively, at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva (Salon International Des Inventions Geneve) held in Geneva, Switzerland on April 11-15, 2018. This exhibition is under the patronage of the Swiss Federal Government, the State, the City of Geneva and of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The DOST, represented by Engr. Edgar Garcia, Director of the Technology Application Institute (TAPI), participated in the exhibition and presented the inventions to the jury. Out of 226 entries, 20 gold medals with jury distinction were awarded, one (1) was garnered by DOST. The pre-commercialization activities (pilot-scale, field- testing and technology validation) for both inventions/technologies were funded under TAPI's TECHNICOM or Technology Innovation for Commercialization Program.

Biotek-Mô Dengue Aqua Kit can diagnose dengue within an hour at a more affordable cost. The project was monitored by DOST-PCHRD.

The Smart Surface, on the other hand, is an innovative, interactive, and fun way of learning for students who get easily bored with usual class discussions. It is a portable, robust and flexible platform that can virtually convert any ordinary surface into a tap-sensitive device. The project was monitored by DOST-PCIEERD.
