The Department of Science and Technology Region 7 (DOST 7) through its Cebu Provincial S&T Center (DOST Cebu PSTC) transfers coffee processing technologies to Kabangkalan Agro-Forestry Multipurpose Cooperative (KAFAMCO) in Tuburan, Cebu on June 12, 2018. The processing equipment transferred are coffee bean dehuller, depulper, dryer, roaster, moisture analyzer, and band sealer.

Sen. Cynthia Villar spearheads the turn over ceremony of the equipment from DOST including coffee bean solar dryer, sorting tables and moisture analyzer from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Sen. Villar supports initiatives to support farmers as she is establishing farm schools all over the country.

DOST 7 has been instrumental in the commercialization of Tuburan ground coffee through developing its packaging and labeling. Continuous technology interventions have been extended thereafter.

DOST 7 Regional Director Edilberto Paradela and DOST Cebu Provincial S&T Director Tristan Abando, Tuburan Mayor Aljun Diamante and other heads of participating agencies assist Sen. Villar  in the turn over ceremony.

Several interventions are still to be extended to the coffee farming communities in Tuburan as it is covered by DOST's Community Empowerment through Science and Technology Upscaling (CEST UP) program.
