41 DOST-SEI scholars in Bukidnon to graduate in 2020

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Nov. 7 --Forty-one DOST-SEI scholars at Central Mindanao University and Bukidnon State University will graduate in 2020.

These are beneficiaries of the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) Undergraduate Science and Technology (S&T) Scholarships Programs under the Republic Act (RA) 7687 or Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994) and RA 10612 or Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS).

Thirty-four (34) of these are JLSS beneficiaries who have a return service obligation of 2-3 years teaching in senior high schools, preferably at their home province.

Fields of disciplines are Education (16), Agricultural Engineering (10), Electrical Engineering (4) and Mechanical Engineering (4) Education is focused on teaching Math, Biological Science, Biology and General Science.

JLSS is designed to fill the big gap of science and mathematics teachers for the senior high school STEM strand under the K12 education program.

To remind the scholars of their obligations and to make them competitive in the job market, DOST-10 will conduct a Scholars’ Exit Conference to the graduating scholars on Nov. 11, 2019 at Hotel de Susana, Valencia City, Bukidnon.

This is one of the various activities lined up for the celebration of the 2019 Regional Science and Technology Week slated from Nov. 11-13, 2019.

Speakers from the Department of Education region 10 (DepEd-10) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-10) are also invited to share with the graduating scholars the Application and Hiring Process of DepEdand Current Career Opportunities, respectively. (KL Baconguis/DOST 10)
