DOST-NCR assesses impact of S&T assistance to MUNTAPARLAS clients

QUEZON CITY, Nov. 25 (PIA)--The Department of Science and Technology-National Capital Region see to it that their commitment to provide comprehensive package of assistance is not limited to the provision of technological assistance, they see to it that they make a regular assessment on how effective these interventions through project visits to clients.

Recently, DOST-NCR Regional Director Jose B. Patalinjug III visited selected projects in the MUNTAPARLAS (Muntinlupa, Taguig, Pateros, Parañaque, Las Piñas) Cluster on November 15, 2019.

Patalinjug and the agency’s technical staff visited projects under the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) to check on their developments after they were given the assistance.

Among the projects visited were B&G Graphic Solutions Co., FPTC (Frias Precision Technologies Corporation), Rhod Jane Metal Arts Enterprises, 4CJS Trading, Crumbs Cake Art and Cafe, and Migo Skin Inc.

Three Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) beneficiaries were also visited, namely: Goodwill Industries of the Philippines (GIPI), a non-government organization which provides job training, employment placement services and other programs for persons with disabilities; Pag-asa sa Paglaya Multipurpose Cooperative, whose staff are made up of former New Bilibid Prison (NBP) prisoners and their families; and the Municipality of Pateros Balut Processing Facility, which sparks the revival of the balut industry in Pateros.

According to Patalinjug, aside from monitoring the beneficiaries' progress, the project visits are also meant to evaluate the improvements and gauge other possible assistance that can be extended, as well as foster possible partnerships with other programs and services of DOST. (PIA-NCR)
