Sistema para sa pagpaparami ng ‘quality planting materials’ ng citrus, nagawa ng NVSU

Isang sistema para sa pagpaparami ng magandang kalidad ng mga punla o ‘planting materials’ ng citrus ang maaari na ngayong magamit ng mga nagtatanim ng citrus sa bansa. Ito ay sa pamamagitan ng pagsisikap ng Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU). Kabilang sa sistema ang ‘citrus mother tree foundation’ at ‘budwood increase block.’ Dito nakikita ang mga puno ng citrus na nakatanim sa malalaking paso sa loob ng screenhouse kung saan hindi makapapasok ang mga insekto. Ang mga ‘mother trees’ ay protektado laban sa dalawang klase ng insekto: ang aphids na nagkakalat ng Citrus Tristeza Virus (CTV) at psyllids na nagkakalat ng Huanglongbing (HLB). Quirino launches clonal nursery for native tree species

MANILA, Philippines — The Quirino State University (QSU) recently established a clonal nursery facility, funded by the Department of Science and Technology’s Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development. Spearheaded by QSU professor Edgar Benabise, the project aims to construct and maintain a clonal nursery facility and a hedge garden of selected tree species for clonal propagation activities. Benabise said the staff were trained on macro-somatic clonal propagation. The team then surveyed, fenced, and mapped the location of the hedge garden.
