The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office No. IX, represented by its Regional Director, Mr. Martin A. Wee, has obtained an environmental compliance certificate (ECC) for the Regional Standards and Testing Laboratories (RSTL) after successfully adhering to the requirements of Presidential Decree No. 1586, and in accordance to DENR Administrative Order (D.A.O.) No. 2003-30.

The certificate grants authorization for projects such as the RSTL to operate on the basis that its activities adhere to the rules of environmental protection and proper management of hazardous waste and materials.

The certificate, which was granted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), through the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), on February 8, 2021 in Zamboanga City, covers the operations of the Regional Standards and Testing Laboratories (RSTL) – an “environmentally critical” project that has storage and usage of toxic or hazardous materials or substances.
